Introduction

The company Jekran builds machines for cutting metal sheets using water jet, plasma cutting, and oxy-reduction cutting.. Some machines have two or more torches mounted on the beam to cut with different technologies.

The machines range in size from very small to large, with the option of using stepper motors. The beam is the main component of the machine and must be moved by two motors on the sides.

The plasma source used has a digital interface for defining cutting parameters. The CNC must communicate with this interface.

Solution

ISAC offered CNC Costantino with ready to work application.

The chosen axis interface was pulse/direction, which allows for optimizing performance for step axes and achieving, sometimes exceeding, the nominal characteristics of the motors.

Results

The CAM offered by Jekran has the ability to define the cutting parameters as well as the machining geometry. The direct import of geometry from DXF and the use of parametric figures also offers important usage modes for the machine operator.

The prototype installation of the various machines was completed in just a few hours. Mass production is quick and easy.
