Wood processing

The thousand and one machines to create doors, windows and work panels.

Client: AES - CNC İşleme Merkezleri

Introduction

The firm AES needed to introduce a machine for the production of wooden doors and kitchen panels on the market. The process involved roughing and using various tools and some aggregates for surface machining, flanks, drilling.

Machining had to proceed on one area while the operator would have to load in the opposite area. If requested, the same program for the left door should have produced a right part as well.

The user requested a simple and intuitive operator interface, integrated with the third-party CAM to generate the program.

Solution

ISAC proposed a model CNC capable of controlling servo drives with different interfaces, from impulses / direction to Mechatrolink. The interpolation quality is in fact very high for all supported interfaces.

Thanks to the fact that the CNC runs in a PC environment, it is also possible to run CAM software within the same environment and it is possible to easily integrate customer-developed HMIs.

Capabilities exploited

  • Functionality of affine transformations of the program: mirror, roto-translation etc.
  • Interpolation on the trajectory with constant Jerk control.
  • High speed interpolation algorithms
  • Velocity Feed Forward to minimize the following error during interpolation
  • PC-based architecture, capable of hosting CAMs running on Windows.
  • PLC code developed in IEC61131 for easy maintenance and which exploits the ISAC libraries for managing the main aspects of the application.

Results

  • Time of realization application very small compared to machines produced with CNC of competition.
  • Reduced production times for the processing of decorations and inlays.
  • Excellent quality of the machined surface due to the absence of sudden mechanical movements.
