Trajan

Traiano is a high-performance CNC central unit for applications on supply machine tools, 3- and 5-axis milling or robot kinematics, even multi-channel competitors.

Trajan communicates via EtherCAT with I/O modules, servos, and gateways that connect the EtherCAT network to other networks such as Yaskawa's Mechatrolink, IO-Link, and CANopen, or with devices that provide analog and pulse/direction interface for traditional drives. It manages the resources through an EtherCAT configurator integrated with the hardware resource manager and with the automation logic editor.

Traiano has an IEC61131 programmable PLC environment, it is possible to develop the PLC logic with one of the 5 standard languages: ST, LD, FBD, SCD, IL, or in C. Traiano and Costantino share the same development, verification and programming environment.

All applications developed for one of the two products also work on the other.

Traiano executes a g-code (ISO6983) movement program, and has many functions for adapting the interpretation and interpolation based on the required needs. It offers the application powerful and simple to use features:

  • With 25,000 blocks per second and over 500 blocks of lookahead, is one of the fastest CNCs on the market. Trajan best distributes the workload across multiple CPU cores
  • Traiano exchanges synchronous data with the EtherCAT network with a frequency of up to 2kHz, and executes the control logic synchronous with the data exchange, or with the execution of the interpolators

Motion Control included

Traiano includes Motion Control functionality with PLC logic interface compatible with the PLCopen MC part 1 standard, for applications that require synchronized movements between axes:

  • Motion cams based on the position of an axis or on time
  • Axis movements through time constraints of position, speed or acceleration
  • Speed coupling between axes.
  • Cutting on the fly.
  • Synchronized axis position rephasing.

All these functions can interact with the others used in the CNC, to create complex applications and to achieve maximum adaptability.
